Food And Drink In San Diego:

Surfing the city's official visitors/travel website would yield at least 244 restaurants in San Diego. The menu varies from American, Greek, and Indian to Thai cuisines. Anthony's Fish Grotto on the Bay is touted as San Diego's original seafood restaurant.

Alfiere Mediterranean Bistro at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel takes pride of its famous carnival celebrations, the richness of Mediterranean food, and the ambience of a dining place overlooking San Diego Bay.

Pizza, as it is in all of Southern California, is very much abundant in San Diego. It is the most popular food in town.

Café Coyote, located at the heart of Old Town, San Diego offers its 17 years of traditional Mexican cuisine. Owing to its proximity to Mexico, traditional food in San Diego is basically Mexican. Brigantine or the traditional group dining while seated in Patios is offered by La Loma (Shelter Island) and Escondido restaurants.

San Diego's best wines and drinks are produced right in its backyard. Guided tours in full gift shops and small family-run places gives visitors an opportunity elbow up to the oak bar to taste a fume blanc and petite sirah. The "tour" is simply turning around and glancing at huge tanks, vats and machinery just behind them.

Most San Diego wineries are located near Interstate 15, about a 45-minute to one hour drive north of San Diego central. San Diego's wineries are the said to be "best-kept secrets." These are mostly located in the vast San Diego County. Bernardo Winery, located at 13330 Paseo del Verano Norte in Rancho Bernardo, sells a variety of items in its Winery Village Shops aside from its popular red and white wines. Bernardo takes pride of its own "olive oil and homemade pasta." The tasting room opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m. daily. The Winery Village Shops are open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday through Sunday.

Fallbrook Winery, located on Via Rancheros Road in Fallbrook, produces premium wines like Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Merlot. San Diego Wine & Culinary Center is a good place to enjoy wine tasting adventure. They are in downtown Harbor Drive. Visit them to discover good wine and food.

Falkner Winery, located at Calle Contento Road, offers a good look at the famed Temecula Valley. Falkner produces Chardonnay, White Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and some proprietary wines known as the "Rosato" and red Tuscan "Cello." Wine tasting in San Diego and tours begin at 10 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m. daily.
